Getting Familiar with Godot - Coin Collector Begins Development

I've begun development on a game I'll be calling Coin Collector.  I'm treating this as an opportunity to learn how to build 2D games with the Godot game engine.  This won't be anything particularly fantastic, but I'll still be putting effort into making it as fun and engaging as it can possibly be given the scope of my ambitions for it.

You'll play as a grumpy old codger who just wants to collect and hoard coins, and mutter nonsense to yourself while you do it.  You're set in your ways, so you always have to collect a certain number of them each day.  But you're also old and tired, so you can only wander around outside so long before you run out of steam.  Ooops, don't stub your toe on those rocks!  Watch out for that bee's nest!

You get the idea -- just a silly backstory to come up with a premise for a simple 2D arcade game. ;)  I'll be keeping the game small and simple, with the goal of learning Godot well enough to make something better in the future.

I've got a decent start on some basic graphics, and found some music I'd like to use from Kevin MacLeod over on Incompetech.  The source code will be up on my GitHub account.  I'll drop by here with new devlog entries periodically to update my progress -- if only to keep myself motivated and accountable!
